Arrival of Birds Review

Arrival of Birds Review

2023, Sep 12

The second feature in my reviews from Birmingham Bizarre Bazaar is a bit different from my other reviews as it’s not really on something you can wear or play with - but as soon as I saw their products for the first time, I knew I had to review it. It’s a mix of two of my favourite things: art and kink.

This review is all about Arrival of Birds, a really fantastic contemporary multimedia artist who creates beautiful pieces of kinky artwork across many different canvas materials. From huge canvas pieces to small prints and magnets. They have a hugely diverse range of stock, and I was kind of blown away by it all. They also take commissions, so you can have something made to your exact liking!

Their prices vary greatly, meaning there really is something for everyone, from linocut prints to large originals - I do feel as if everybody’s budget is catered for here. You can see the effort that has gone into every piece, and that really helps you to see the value within them. The pieces all look delicate and dangerous, which embodies a lot of BDSM play too - so it is really cool to have this represented in art. Many of their pieces have striking messages on, which I found to be such an interesting touch, they add a level of ‘edge’ to each piece, and I feel as if their almost like the artists signature; beautiful pieces of art with striking messages, bringing reality to art.

Alongside prints and original artworks, Arrival of Birds sells jewellery and keyrings. Gorgeous, intricate earrings featuring nude bodies, and necklaces of figures in shibari rope, these are beautiful pisces and not hugely explicitly kinky, which is quite nice. There’s certainly nothing wrong with wearing jewellery out in public that screams ‘I’m kinky’ or ‘this is exactly what I like to get up to in the bedroom!’, but it’s not for everyone. It’s nice to have something sexy to wear that doesn’t feel like it’s too much, and the jewellery created by Arrival of Birds really fits this niche. Their keyrings are small enough to not be noticed by most people - but they’re so fun, I think they would put a smile on your face every time you saw it on your keys.

Scrolling back a few months, I saw that they used to make beautiful collars, and this is something I would love to see them have again - they’re all in very pretty, delicate designs and really stand out from a lot of other collars on the market.

Two newish, I think, additions to their stock are hand burnt wood paddles, with very sexy illustrations on, and embroidery loops filled with delicate stitchwork that are both beautiful and very sexy. They would make wonderful gifts for a partner or friend, or even to treat yourself. Similarly to the linocut prints, these won’t take up a huge amount of room, so they’re really cute pieces of decor to spruce up a room, adding a little kinky touch wherever you need it.

One thing I’d note is that their art pieces are not very vanilla friendly; mostly being of explicitly kinky scenes. Nobody has to create art for vanilla people, I suppose it’s a bit like asking Picasso to not create cubist art - but if you’re looking for something to hang up in a place that will be seen by vanilla people, Arrival of Birds may not be for you. Though saying that, you should still check their work out!

Arrival of Birds sells at the Birmingham Bizarre Bazaar, London Alt Market and online - if their shop isn’t open online, do check their socials as it is closed from time to time - but they restock every Friday at 8pm BST. You can find them on Instagram, X TikTok and FetLife.

I have reached out to Arrival of Birds with this piece and will update it with any requested edits.
