Leather Delights Ankle & Wrist Cuff Review
When thinking about starting a collection of kink gear, what’s one of the first things that come to mind? For me, it’s restraints - and the starting point for many people is wrist and ankle cuffs. They can be used easily and attached to each other or furnishings at parties. It makes a lot of sense that they’re oftentimes one of the first things that people buy when starting on the scene.
Cuffs are something that I think can be classed as a BDSM essential. You often see them in starter sets, you can buy them in high street shops such as Ann Summers, and they’re probably one of the first things that come up when searching Etsy for kink gear. They’re very common, easy to use for solo play, help to heighten scenes, or can be used as an easy way to keep someone in subspace. They’re also just very fun, something that I’m sure many people can attest to.
Due to their popularity, it is quite expected that a lot of cuffs on the market are just quickly produced on a mass scale. As I’m sure you can imagine, this makes for a lot of uncomfortable material being used, which means you can’t wear them for longer periods of time as it’s simply not enjoyable. I’ve tried so many sets over the years, and rarely have I found something I enjoy wearing. Sure, they may look good, but they feel like they’re just for show. If they’re not uncomfortable, they don’t feel like they’ll last. It’s unfortunate, but as I said, fairly expected when something is this popular. This can turn people away from using them, though. One bad experience can quickly become a ‘never again’, whereas they were just unlucky to use a product that was badly designed, or simply low in quality. This can really put a downer on the concept of using restraints in play - and I’m sure a lot of people are interested in using them but don’t want to keep buying uncomfortable products.
I stumbled upon Leather Delights a while back, they create lots of toys and accessories, such as paddles, floggers, blindfolds and, as I’m sure you can guess, restraints. I’m sure I’ll write a review of their paddles soon, as I’ve tried a few of these - both using them and having them used on me.
My set of cuffs, ankle and wrist, get used so much. They help to heighten any scene, and are great to wear at parties as an accessory, or something to keep you in subspace for longer.
The cuffs have a black leather outer, and you can choose between suede or sheepskin for the inner. From these two choices, you can choose between 5 Colours of sheepskin (Black, Purple, Red, Cream and Blue) , and 6 colours of suede (Black, Purple, Red, Turquoise, Baby Pink and Royal Blue). The leather only comes in black. While I like this, I’m sure a lot of people would prefer having some variety, though with the custom colours perhaps this is a big ask. Alongside customisable colour, they come in 4 different sizes, meaning that more people can use them. This is really great; so many cuffs on the market only come in one size, and it excludes so many people. So if you’re worried about the cuffs not fitting, you’ll probably find something that works for you here. Alongside this, my cuffs came with an o-ring and a set of clips, which gives the set a lot of flexibility in terms of how you use them.
Edited to Add: Leather Delights messaged me to let me know that they have 9 other colours of leather available, as you will see if you request customs.
Something else to note; is that Leather Delights take custom orders, with multiple colours of leather to choose from, which is really nice - so you can make a set that matches whatever you need it to!
They feel very sturdy; I’m not constantly worrying about the leather wearing or rubbing against furnishings, or breaking if attached to a leash. Regarding the craftsmanship, Leather Delights state: The welded D ring ensures it can not be pulled apart. The buckle strap being threaded through the lined section of the cuff means that the load on the rivet (usually a weak point) is reduced. I’d say this is very accurate, no parts of the cuffs feel weak, even those that do have more pressure/pull used on them.
I feel so sexy when wearing them; they’re noticeably there, but not in an uncomfortable way. They feel comfortable against my skin, there’s no rubbing when I move about, but they keep me solidly in place too. It’s nice to not worry about toys irritating my skin or breaking, as it means I can really focus on the scene. The soft interior means that you could slip out, but in my experience, only if you’re actively trying to.
Price wise, they may seem more expensive when compared to options on eBay or other more general sex toy retailers, but these are handmade, and use real leather, which reflects the price point pretty well. However, I do completely understand that it may feel like a lot of money for people who want to build up a starter collection of toys and accessories. If you are curious and get the chance to test them out; I’d say go for it. You can feel the quality, it’s nothing like the mass produced restraints that are commonly available. Producing products in the UK is challenging cost-wise, but Leather Delights really pride themselves on being UK-made.
One of the best things about them is that Leather Delights provide a lifetime guarantee. Which means if anything does happen, they can be fixed or replaced. It shows a lot of care for their customers, which is really great to see. This makes you feel very confident in your purchase; it tells you they’re proud of their craftsmanship and that their products are well made - why would they offer a lifetime guarantee if they weren’t! The process seems easy enough, simply get in contact with Leather Delights and return the product, then they’ll repair it and return it. It gives you a lot of trust in their products. I spoke to a friend who used the lifetime guarantee; Leather Delights looked at their set and quickly took it in for repairs, where not only did they fix the broken part, they re-riveted the whole set for safety.
I really like these, I think they’re well worth the price point, and are clearly designed with play in mind, rather than just to be aesthetically pleasing.
Price: For a handmade product using real leather, I think the price is justified. If you’re just starting out, it may be a little too high. 4/5
Design: . A multitude of sizes, and all cuffs are adjustable too. The choices of colours a great addition. 4.5/5
Ease of Use: I don’t think it gets much easier than this. If you’re rushing, you could get confused between the ankle and wrist cuffs, but it’s easy enough to see the difference. 4.5/5
Comfort: They feel snug and sturdy, while being soft on the skin at the same time. 5/5
