Skully Candles Review

Skully Candles Review

2023, Sep 04

Skully Candles were one of many vendors at the Birmingham Bizarre Bazaar that I made a purchase from, and as was the case with many of the vendors I bought from, I ended up having a long conversation with them too.

They had four different designs of candles, all in many different, beautiful colours. Each candle had a different softness to it, which can really change up how scenes feel due to temperature differences and how they feel on the skin! The vendors were both really happy to explain the difference and talk me through what each candle was like.

Alongside wax play candles, Skully Candles also sell massage candles - these don’t dry on the skin, rather they create a soft oil, perfect for giving your partner a sensual massage.

What I really appreciated about Skully Candles is the fact they think of what accessories you need to have in order to do wax play. They carried drop sheets (which are big enough to fit over a double bed) and scrapers, to remove the wax from your partner. Both of these items are so overlooked, in my opinion, but so needed for easy cleanup.

At the Birmingham Bizarre Bazaar after-party, the owners of Skully Candles had a section dedicated to teaching and allowing people to use candles for wax play, which was a really great touch as it’s rare for events to allow wax play due to flames and fire hazards. While I had done wax play at home before, I know a lot of people are interested in it but wished they were able to try it - so having stations wherein you can try wax play was fantastic. Not only this, but you were able to purchase candles, lighters and scrapers from Skully Candles, which was a really good thing to do, as if you were interested, you were able to purchase products there. As with all kinks, not everything will work for everyone; so if you didn’t end up enjoying wax play, it’s not like you have bought something you won’t use again. I felt in safe hands during this session, as myself and the person with me were able to ask many questions without feeling annoying - they are clearly really passionate about wax!

Alongside the different designs they already stock, they are open to custom designs, so you can create something special and fulfill your wax play dreams.

As I mentioned earlier, candle softness is really important for wax play. All of the candles that Skully Candles make have a low melting point, which is super important. The candles are overall all very soft, but they definitely feel different on the skin - I would personally recommend buying a couple of different designs if you’re unable to try in person to really get to know which you like best. From memory, the skull shaped candle was the softest I tried, and I really loved this sensation.

Skully Candles also make scrapers, which are not only practical, but quite sensual too. It feels really good to have someone scraping dried wax from you, as weird as it may sound. They are simply 3D printed bars or ‘blades’ (not sharp!) that are used to remove wax from the skin. They help to create a much cleaner experience, as you can just scrape the wax off and leave it in an easily disposable pile.

Alongside this, they also sell drop sheets, which is something I’ve never seen be sold at a market type event before. These are also so essential to not making a mess, as wax gets everywhere and is really difficult to remove.

You are able to find Skully Candles on FetLife, [Twitter] (https://twitter.com/SkullyCandles?t=G5Nyxfos-_zdYu8sGDoPWg&s=09) and at many events such as the Birmingham Bizarre Bazaar, my review of which you can read here, Gloucester Prison Market, Manchester Smut Market and Exeter Alternative Market. They also have an online shop
